Privacy
Residents’ Experience Surveys (RES) is administered and conducted by a consortium of companies including IQVIA, Access Care Network Australia (ACNA) and HealthConsult. The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care has engaged the consortium, led by IQVIA (the IQVIA Consortium), as an independent third-party, to administer RES on its behalf.
The IQVIA Consortium takes your privacy seriously and is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles contained within the Privacy Act 1988 (as amended from time to time).
The Department of Health and Aged Care will provide the IQVIA Consortium with information on residential aged care services including bed numbers, occupied bed numbers, resident names, date of birth, sex, and duration of residency. Additional data may be requested from residential aged care homes, such as total number of residents, facility layout, room numbers, whether assistance is required, whether resident is at end of life, and to identify residents with difficult behaviours.
All information will be held on a database on a secure server within Australia (maintained by IQVIA). Private Information will not be revealed in any reviews and reports which may be published from this study, and any Private Information collected will remain confidential as required by law, except as otherwise described below.
For residents of aged care homes
Information provided by residents during surveys will be saved in a way that is not linked to their name or other identifying information. Residents cannot be identified by their residential aged care home or the Department of Health and Aged Care from any information they provide.
All survey answers from people living at a given residential aged care home will be grouped together and summarised in a report to give an overall ‘resident experience’ score for that aged care home.
This score will become part of the Star Rating for each residential aged care home. A person’s individual answers will not be shared with anyone working at the same residential aged care home.
Information collected during the survey is strictly confidential and stored securely. The identity of residents will not be revealed in any reviews and reports which may be published, and any information collected from residents will remain confidential as required by law.
For aged care homes
Residents will be randomly selected at each visit to an aged care home. Services will not be provided with a list of residents to be surveyed.
Aggregated, de-identified information from the surveys conducted at a given residential aged care home will be made available in a Resident Experience Report. The reports include information, as provided by residents, on the quality of care and services in residential aged care homes. This score will become part of the Star Rating for each residential aged care home. These reports will be available to the general public on the My Aged Care website.
Security
IQVIA provide reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect Private Information we work with and maintain. Please be aware, although we try to protect the information we work with and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.
